An Arlington Heights 5-year-old girl is recovering after being left on a bus alone by her daycare on Tuesday. The parents of the child are demanding justice and accountability for the staff at KinderCare.

Caitlynn Gonzalez and Wamui Mwiya, the mother and father of 5-year-old Dior, found their daughter on a bus hours later. Dior was left on the bus for nearly three hours in below-freezing temperatures and became hypothermic.

Gonzalez described finding her daughter as "limp" and had to carry her almost unconscious body out of the bus. The parents expressed their shock and anger at the situation, stating that someone needs to be held responsible for the incident.

Dior's parents mentioned that the staff at KinderCare did not handle the situation properly and failed to call the police when there was a missing child. They are now considering homeschooling their child as they try to navigate full-time jobs.

In response to the incident, KinderCare stated that their bus safety protocols were not followed, and the staff member involved along with the center director are on administrative leave. The Illinois Department of Family Services is currently investigating the matter.
