A body has been found in the search for two missing British hikers who disappeared in the Dolomites, Italy’s alpine rescue team has confirmed.

Missing Hikers

Aziz Ziriat, 36, and Samuel Harris, 35, both from London, were last heard from on 1 January and failed to check in for their return flight. They were hiking near Casina Dosson, close to Tione Di Trento, near Riva Del Garda, on Lake Garda.

Discovery of Body

Italy’s CNSAS found a body near Passo di Conca, buried under snow, during the search. The teams were led to the location by tracking a phone signal from one of the hikers.

Investigation Ongoing

An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident. Search efforts for the second hiker are ongoing, with support provided to the families of both men.

Search Operation

The backpacks and equipment of the hikers were located in Val San Valentino. Around 30 rescuers have been focusing on specific areas despite challenging weather conditions, including dense fog and snow avalanches.

Support and Appeals

Friends, family, and organizations like Crystal Palace Football Club, where one of the hikers works, have been actively involved in search efforts. The response from local authorities has been praised for its dedication.
