Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2027 with the completion of a $224 million renovation and expansion project. The goal of the project is to ensure Opryland remains the flagship property for Ryman Hospitality Properties Inc. (NYSE: RHP), attract more premium corporate groups, and evolve alongside Nashville.
Mark Fioravanti, president and CEO of Ryman, stated, "It takes Opryland, which has been a flagship of our company for nearly 50 years, and repositions it for the next 50 years as a premier destination in a premier market."
The project was based on research conducted by The Olinger Group, showing growing demand for meeting spaces with limited supply. This renovation aims to refresh meeting spaces, create new event areas, and expand ballroom and breakout spaces, giving the property a modern Southern elegance.
Phase 1 includes updating the Governor’s and Presidential ballrooms, while Phase 2 will transform the former Magnolia Pool Courtyard into the Magnolia District, offering event lawn, pavilion, and a multistory sports bar. The final phase will add an L-shaped building with 108,000 square feet of meeting space.
According to Fioravanti, this project will enhance Nashville's reputation as a world-class city, attracting high-quality customers and boosting the city's profile. Ryman Hospitality Properties aims to strengthen its ties with Nashville through continued investment and belief in the city's growth.
