The former couple finalized their divorce on Monday, Jan. 6, almost 20 weeks after Lopez, 55, filed for a dissolution of marriage on Aug. 20, 2024. A source revealed to PEOPLE that Lopez felt the fairy tale she was promised turned into a nightmare.

Marriage and Divorce Details

Affleck and Lopez tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022 and had a larger celebration in Georgia in August of the same year. However, Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years after their Georgia ceremony, citing irreconcilable differences.

She filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court without a lawyer, requesting no spousal support and for attorneys' fees to be divided equally. Lopez also requested that her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.

Post-Divorce Interactions

Despite their divorce, Lopez and Affleck spent time together over the weekend, but a source clarified that they are not rekindling their romance. They remain focused on co-parenting and ensuring their children's happiness.

On Sunday, Jan. 5, Lopez visited Affleck's home in Los Angeles with her daughter Emme, 16, while Affleck's son Samuel, 12, was also present. The children enjoy spending time together, and both parents prioritize their well-being.

Affleck and Lopez were last seen with Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner on Dec. 13, 2024, attending a play featuring Seraphina, 15, and Emme. Despite their past, the trio continues to maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of their children.
