According to FOX News, "Meta" is removing fact-checkers from its platforms in a move announced by the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "We will restore freedom of speech," said Zuckerberg in a video address. "Fact-checkers will be replaced by community notes, similar to those on X, with changes starting in the USA," he added.

"Community Notes" is the information verification system on "X," the social network of billionaire Elon Musk. When information is false, any user with the right to fact-check can explain why a claim is wrong, and the explanation appears in a small box below the post. Unlike fact-checkers, who often work for subcontractors, "community notes" can be added by any user as long as they have a certain rating earned by evaluating existing notes.

"It became clear that they (fact-checkers) are politically biased," said Joel Kaplan, Meta's Chief Global Affairs Officer, in an interview with FOX News. He added that the company will "loosen" its own policies for censoring information. The change comes after Zuckerberg, owner of the social networks Facebook and Instagram, donated 1 million dollars to the Trump Inaugural Fund, as reported by Darik.
