South Korea witnessed a tragic plane crash recently, where a domestic flight carrying 175 passengers and six crew members crashed in the southern region. According to initial reports, only two individuals survived the aviation disaster, while the fate of 96 passengers has been confirmed as fatal.

Jeju Air, the airline company responsible for the flight, reported the incident and the flight originated from Bangkok before the unfortunate crash in the southern-eastern region of the country. The aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from Muann International Airport, located 288 km from Seoul.

Footage from South Korean television channels showed a massive fireball erupting from the aircraft, which split into two parts upon impact. The death toll initially stood at 28 passengers, but within a few hours, the confirmed number of casualties rose to 62, with national rescue services declaring all passengers and crew members on board as deceased. Additionally, official sources have confirmed the loss of 96 individuals.

Out of the survivors, one passenger and one crew member have been reported. Reuters reports that both survivors were located in the rear sections of their respective aircraft.

Details about their condition remain scarce, with both individuals being treated at separate hospitals.

The majority of the passengers, 173 individuals, are South Korean residents, with two others being from Thailand.
