It seems that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sees potential for a significant trade deal between the US and China, emphasizing the opportunity for a "beautiful rebalancing" if both countries work together. However, he also criticized the World Bank for continuing to lend to countries that have already achieved economic growth, including China. Bessent called for the bank to stop lending to these countries and urged for firm graduation timelines to be set. He believes that it is time for China, as the world's second-largest economy, to graduate from being considered a developing country and take on a more prominent role in the global economy.
