Ajith Kumar has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honour, making him one of the 19 recipients of this prestigious award. Reacting to the news, the actor expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India."
Ajith thanked his family and friends, mentioning how he wished his late father could have witnessed this moment. He also extended his appreciation to his wife, actress Shalini, for her unwavering support throughout his career.
On the work front, Ajith Kumar has appeared in over 60 films spanning more than three decades. Initially known for his roles in romance films, he later transitioned into an action hero with movies like Amarkalam and Billa, solidifying his status as one of Tamil cinema's biggest stars.
In addition to Ajith, other notable personalities honored with the Padma Bhushan include film producer and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna and veteran director Shekhar Kapur. Malayalam author and screenwriter M.T. Vasudevan Nair was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
