Dear White People star DeRon Horton took to Instagram to reveal that he was shot in the arm just days before Christmas. The 32-year-old actor shared his experience and expressed gratitude for surviving the incident.
“First off. I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones,” Horton began in his caption. He thanked everyone who checked on him, including his family and friends. "I love yall, Thank you.”
“Gettin shot a few days before Xmas def wasn’t on my wish list 😂🎅🏽,” he continued.
The actor explained that the shooter shot through the car at him, causing the bullet to break and shatter his arm. Despite the ordeal, Horton expressed his gratitude for not being in a worse condition. He highlighted the importance of keeping faith and being grateful for everything in life.
Horton underwent treatment that involved receiving a plate and screws in his arm. Although he is unable to workout for the time being, he remains positive about his recovery. The actor shared photos of his injured arm, stitches, and X-Ray on his Instagram post.
He concluded his post by reminding his followers to keep God first and to remain alert and grateful for everything. Horton received an outpouring of support from his followers, including his Dear White People co-stars, Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins and Logan Browning, as well as his The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey co-star Samuel L. Jackson.
