The beloved television star, John Lawlor, known for his role as headmaster Steven Bradley in "The Facts of Life," has passed away at the age of 83. Lawlor died peacefully on Feb. 13, 2025, at the Albuquerque veterans hospice facility with his daughter, Riel, by his side.

Lawlor, a veteran of the US Army with service in Vietnam, will be remembered for his great love and affection for his family, his work, and his passion for theater, television, movies, literature, and horses. He began his acting career after graduating from the University of Colorado and is also known for his roles in "Phyllis" and the "Mary Tyler Moore Show."

Lawlor's most iconic role was as headmaster Steven Bradley in "The Facts of Life," where he starred alongside George Clooney, Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon, and Mindy Cohn. He played the role for 13 episodes before being replaced by Roger Perry's Charles Parker.

In 1981, Lawlor ventured into movies and appeared in films like "S.O.B." and "Wyatt Earp." He was born in Troy, New York, in 1941, and is survived by five children, two brothers, three grandchildren, a nephew, and two nieces.

Lawlor's agent confirmed the news of his passing to Fox News Digital, stating that the TV sitcom star had retired from acting several years ago. His obituary highlighted his contributions to the entertainment industry and his dedication to his craft.

John Lawlor's legacy will live on through his memorable performances and his impact on the world of television and film. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans.
