More than 35 years after When Harry Met Sally introduced one of the most-quoted scenes in rom-com history, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have reunited in a Super Bowl commercial for Hellmann’s.

The ad features the duo reviving the iconic 1989 movie’s title characters at the legendary Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City. Harry tells Sally, “I can’t believe they let us back in this place,” to which Sally responds, “Why?”

They are reminiscing about the memorable movie moment where Sally famously faked an orgasm in the restaurant, leading to the classic line, “I’ll have what she’s having.”

In the commercial, Sally adds Hellmann’s mayonnaise to her sandwich, signaling her satisfaction by re-enacting the scene with gusto. Actress Sydney Sweeney makes a cameo to deliver the iconic catchphrase.

The timing was perfect for Crystal and Ryan to revisit the beloved film, celebrating its 35th anniversary. Both actors praised Hellmann’s for its respect towards the movie and characters.

The commercial pays homage to the original Katz’s scene, which has remained a pop culture staple for over three decades. Crystal and Ryan emphasized the well-constructed nature of the scene and how it showcased the dynamics between their characters.

Reflecting on the enduring appeal of the Katz’s moment, Crystal noted, “Back then, no one had ever attempted to talk about that.” Ryan added, “It’s really just a well-constructed scene that delivers on the promise of the premise.”

The teaser for the commercial highlighted Sally’s detailed ordering style, a trademark of the character created by the late Nora Ephron. “She made it more permissible,” Ryan said of Ephron’s influence.

Overall, the reunion at Katz’s Deli brought back fond memories for Crystal and Ryan, capturing the essence of the unforgettable scene that has stood the test of time.
