Hyderabad: Noted Tollywood producer Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary, popularly known as KP Chowdary, who was recognized for releasing the Tamil movie Kabali in Telugu died by suicide in Goa on Monday.
In 2023, he was arrested by the Cyberabad Special Operations Team in connection with a drugs case, where it was discovered that he had clients across both Tollywood and Kollywood, as well as in business circles.
Initial reports suggest that Chowdary had been suffering from financial losses and mounting pressure from lenders. After facing significant setbacks in the film industry, he reportedly became involved in the procurement and distribution of drugs. He also opened the OHM pub in Goa, where he allegedly distributed drugs to celebrities.
