Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmaavat has attained a cult status over the years. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial masterpiece was originally released back in 2018, and nearly seven years later, the film is all set to grace the silver screens again on January 24, 2025.

On January 22, Viacom 18 Studios and Bhansali Productions took to their Instagram handles to share a collaborative post featuring the poster of the epic period drama. The poster showcased the iconic stills of Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor from the film with the caption, "Witness the epic tale on the big screen again. #Padmaavat in cinemas on 24th January." The entire team was tagged in the post.

The announcement took movie lovers by surprise, as they flooded the comments section with their excitement. Fans requested a reunion meet with the entire cast and crew, while others inquired about the original cut of the film without any censorship.

Many fans expressed their eagerness to see re-releases of other popular movies like Bajirao Mastani, Devdas, Black, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Padmaavat narrates the story of Rani Padmavati, the queen of the Kingdom of Chittor, and depicts the epic saga of her struggle against the tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji. The film showcases the valiant act of Rajput women who performed Jauhar to protect their honor and defeat Alauddin's malicious intentions.

Earlier this month, the re-release of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani also received a positive response in theaters.

According to Pinkvilla’s box-office analysis, Padmaavat opened with an impressive Rs 1.75 crore net in its re-release, marking the second-best opening for a re-released movie after Tumbbad. The film continued to attract a significant audience in its second week and concluded with total earnings of Rs 5.45 crore.
