The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s lottery drawing has climbed to an estimated $31 million with a cash option of $13.8 million.

The winning numbers were: 5, 6, 27, 40 and 49. The Powerball drawn was 5 with a Power Play of 2X.

While no one across the country hit Monday’s $20 million jackpot, a second-prize, $1 million ticket was sold in Texas. It matched five numbers but not the Powerball.

In New Jersey, a third-prize, $50,000 ticket was purchased at QuickChek on Route 22 in Whitehouse Station, Hunterdon County, state lottery officials said. It matched four numbers plus the Powerball.

Monday’s winning numbers were 15, 16, 32, 47 and 54. The Powerball drawn was 6 with a Power Play of 3X.

In addition, no one won the secondary $10 million Double Play drawing. Those winning numbers were 10, 23, 33, 38 and 54. The Double Play ball drawn was 17.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 to win a third prize of at least $50,000.

Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is valued at an estimated $28 million with a cash option of $12.5 million.
