Princess Beatrice is a mom again! Buckingham Palace announced the arrival of Princess Beatrice, 36, and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s second child, sharing a heartwarming first photo of the newborn on Jan. 29. The couple chose the name Athena Elizabeth Rose — a touching tribute to Beatrice’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

The baby arrived several weeks prematurely, but is "healthy" and "doing well," according to the proud parents. The palace statement shared, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm. The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces."

The King and Queen, and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news. Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their care.

The statement was accompanied by a photo of the new baby, snuggled up in a white outfit in a pink blanket. Beatrice's husband, Edoardo, shared the photo on Instagram, expressing his and Beatrice's overwhelming love for baby Athena.

Princess Beatrice shares the new addition with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and the couple are already parents to 3-year-old daughter Sienna Elizabeth. The new baby becomes 11th in the British line of succession to the throne.

Buckingham Palace announced the news of Princess Beatrice’s second pregnancy on Oct. 1. The baby inherits an aristocratic title from Edo’s side of the family, being a "count" if male and “nobile donna” if female.

Princess Beatrice notably became the first member of her generation of the British royal family to step into the role of stepparent when she married Edo. She is a wonderful and very hands-on stepmom to her stepson Wolfie.

Princess Beatrice and her younger sister Princess Eugenie, 34, both became mothers in 2021. Eugenie shared parenting tips with Beatrice, and the sisters have a close bond.

Bea has such a good heart and she’s such a kind person, so motherhood came very naturally to her,” said celebrity nutritionist Gabriela Peacock.
