Dear Eric: I am a late-20-something. When I told my mom I wanted to go to law school, one of the first things she said to me was that I would most likely never find a life partner. Of note, I am the only woman in my family in my generation with a college degree. I am also the first attorney in my family.

Despite my mom's concerns, I am determined to pursue my dream of becoming a successful lawyer. I believe that finding love should not be limited by my career choice. I am confident that there is someone out there who will appreciate my ambition and drive.

As I navigate through law school and my future career, I am hopeful that I will meet someone who values me for who I am. I refuse to let my mom's outdated beliefs hold me back from achieving my goals.

For all the aspiring lawyers out there facing similar challenges, remember that your career should not define your worth in the dating world. Stay true to yourself and the right person will come along when the time is right.
