IMD Predicts Moderate to Heavy Rainfall and Lightning in National Capital
New Delhi, Jun 18 (PTI) - The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in the national capital on Wednesday night. The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 82 per cent, indicating the likelihood of significant precipitation.
Delhi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, slightly above the normal level, as reported by the weather department. The maximum temperature for the day is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius, according to IMD forecasts.
The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometres per hour, and moderate to heavy rainfall during the night. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay indoors.
The air quality in Delhi was classified as 'satisfactory' with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 80 at 9 am. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) categorizes AQI levels from 0-50 as 'good', 51-100 as 'satisfactory', 101-200 as 'moderate', 201-300 as 'poor', 301-400 as 'very poor', and 401-500 as 'severe'.
