Rep. Greg Steube Leads GOP to Victory with Stellar Pitching Performance
Republicans secured their fifth straight victory in the Congressional Baseball Game by defeating Democrats 13-2 at National Park in Washington on Wednesday. The GOP team, clad in red uniforms and MAGA hats, dominated the field, while Democrats struggled to keep up.
Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., delivered an outstanding pitching performance, throwing five innings, allowing only two runs and striking out seven batters. The game took an interesting turn in the first inning when the Democrats loaded the bases, but a remarkable diving play by Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, at third base saved the day for the Republicans.
Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., took the loss for the Democrats, giving up 13 runs in six innings. The GOP team took an early lead with a run in the second inning and extended it to 5-0 in the third inning. Despite Democrats narrowing the gap to 5-2, the Republicans dominated the game by scoring five runs in the fourth inning, ultimately securing a 13-2 victory.
Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., added to the GOP's lead with a two-run double in the fifth inning, while Sen. Joni Earnst, R-Iowa, made history by becoming the first woman to play in the game and scored a run in the sixth inning.
The Congressional Baseball Game has become a tradition, with Republicans now boasting a five-year winning streak. This year's game raised a record-breaking $2.75 million for charity, showcasing the bipartisan spirit of the event.
