Former Rivals Part Ways After Six-Month Collaboration
Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have announced the end of their coaching partnership, surprising the tennis world. The two legends had joined forces six months ago, with Murray taking on a coaching role despite his lack of experience in coaching.
The split comes as Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion, faced a challenging start to the season, including early exits in recent tournaments. Murray expressed gratitude to Djokovic for the opportunity to work together, acknowledging the hard work of Djokovic's team over the past months.
"Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months," said Murray in a statement. "I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season," he added, reminiscing about their past matches where Murray emerged victorious.
The partnership had a promising start, with Djokovic securing a win at the Australian Open before facing an injury setback during the semi-final. Despite their efforts, success proved to be elusive for the duo, leading to the amicable split.
Djokovic also expressed his gratitude towards Murray, stating, "Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun, and support over last six months on and off the court, really enjoyed deepening our friendship together."
