Aston Villa might be sitting outside one of the European positions as this midweek slate of EPL action begins, but they are within striking distance of putting their name back in a UEFA Champions League spot. With a win over Chelsea this past Saturday, the Lions have gone unbeaten in their past three matches and eight of their previous nine. If they can score a few more wins, they could be among the league’s elite.

Aston Villa comes into Tuesday one point behind Bournemouth for sixth and two points back of Manchester City, who is fourth.

Crystal Palace is trying to play the role of spoilers at this point of the season. The Eagles are far enough away from the relegation conversation to feel safe, but are nowhere near the top of the table to stay in contention for any European competition.

With wins in two of their past three matches, Crystal Palace is 13th in the table, nine points back of Aston Villa.
