The Eagles faced significant questions about whether they were a Super Bowl-caliber team after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, dropping their record to 2-2. They responded by winning 10 straight games, establishing themselves as the NFC’s top team in the playoffs and securing the fifth NFC title in franchise history.

The Eagles are heading to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans after a 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders in front of a home crowd at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday afternoon, with the 48 points being the second-highest point total in Eagles playoff history. As the Eagles waited for the stage to be set up for the presentation of the George Halas Trophy, awarded to the NFC champion, players celebrated by donning championship hats and shirts while Commanders players quietly walked to the visitors’ locker room.

After defeating the Commanders, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson had a message for the Commanders, Giants, and Dallas Cowboys after the Eagles walked off the field with the win.

Nick Sirianni became the first Eagles head coach to win two NFC championships in team history. Sirianni made sure to thank fans near the tunnel entrance on his way to the locker room.

Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith took in the celebration with his family.

Defensive end Brandon Graham has not played since tearing his triceps late in the Nov. 24 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Graham has hinted he would try to come back for the Super Bowl. After the game, Graham said. “We’ll see.”

There were several celebrities at Sunday’s game, ranging from actor Bradley Cooper to former WWE wrestler Brie Bella. Comedian Pete Davidson also was there, and he congratulated the team on the win. Davidson, a fan of running back Saquon Barkley, was at an Eagles game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and made sure to be back for the championship game.

Another big celebration broke out in the locker room, with players joining hip-hop artist Gillie Da Kid, who led the team out of the tunnel before kickoff.

The Eagles will face the winner of the AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. Philadelphia defeated both teams last season, beating the Chiefs on the road during Monday Night Football and edging out the Bills in an overtime thriller at home.
