Chelsea enters the weekend holding onto the last European competition spot, as sixth place signifies qualification into the UEFA Conference League. However, they are not far off from jumping into the top four. The Blues just need to find some consistency in order to truly contend for a Champions League position. While they have gone unbeaten in four of the club’s past six matches, Chelsea has suffered tough losses to Brighton and Manchester City.
Aston Villa has already played this week, having met with league-leading Liverpool this past Wednesday. The Lions certainly have not been playing as well as they did last year, but having gone unbeaten in six of their previous eight contests has helped keep them afloat.
Coming into Saturday, Chelsea is just one point back of Manchester City for fourth in the table, while Aston Villa is in ninth, five points behind the Blues.
