Ben Johnson wasted no time in assembling his coaching staff for the Chicago Bears, hiring two coordinators within his first week on the job and retaining a third.

Sources revealed on Sunday night that former Raiders and Saints head coach Dennis Allen will take on the role of defensive coordinator for the Bears. Meanwhile, Declan Doyle, who previously served as the tight end coach for the Broncos, will step in as the offensive coordinator. Richard Hightower will continue in his position as special teams coordinator.

At just 28 years old, Doyle brings fresh perspectives to the offensive side of the team, while Johnson himself will be responsible for calling plays. Allen, with his wealth of head coaching experience, is expected to bring valuable insights and leadership to the Bears.

During his tenure with the New Orleans Saints, Allen managed to transform the team's defense from the bottom of the league in points allowed to a top-four ranking. His track record of success in improving defensive performance is a key factor that attracted Johnson to bring him on board.

Johnson expressed admiration for Allen's defensive strategies, citing his teams' consistent performance in critical situations like third downs and red zones. The two coaches had not crossed paths before, but Johnson's respect for Allen's work was evident from their initial interactions.

"Everywhere he has been, they have been a top third-down team, a top red-zone team, so there are a lot of pillars about what he does schematically that would be appealing to me," Johnson remarked about Allen.
