Of the eight teams who have ever won back-to-back Super Bowl titles, Kansas City is the first to make it back to the big game and have a shot at a three-peat. It will have to beat the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles to do so.

The Eagles blew out the Washington Commanders 55-23 to advance to their second Super Bowl in three years. As Chiefs fans well remember, K.C. beat Philly in Super Bowl LVII in a 38-35 thriller. It should be another tight matchup this time around as the Eagles finished the regular season ranked eighth in overall offense and first in total defense.

It's been a wild ride for the Chiefs to get to this point. They began the year by losing their top to wide receivers with long-term injuries and having to bench their rookie left tackle due to poor play. Despite that, K.C. won its first 9 games of the season, before suffering a loss to the Bills in Week 11.

The Chiefs bounced back from that defeat to win another six games in a row. With the No. 1 seed in the AFC secured, they rested their starters in Week 18 and took a meaningless loss to the Denver Broncos. After 24 days of rest for many key players, K.C. knocked off the Houston Texans 23-14 in the divisional round.

The AFC Championship Game was a great as most expected it to be. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen performed at their usual elite levels and exchanged blows. However, the Chiefs' defense was able to make one more stop than Buffalo, and their offense put the game away with under two minutes left. All that's left for K.C. is to finish the story in two weeks and become the first franchise to win three championships in a row.
