Ohio State’s offense has scored 42, 41 and 21 points in its three playoff games this season. Notre Dame’s offense has scored 27 points twice and 23 another time in this playoff. If the Fighting Irish’s defense doesn’t slow down Ohio State, it’ll be almost impossible for Notre Dame to win.
The Buckeyes have won each playoff game by an average of almost 20 points, which is why they’re listed as an 8.5-point favorite over the Fighting Irish. The only time Notre Dame was a betting underdog this season was its first game against Texas A&M. The Aggies were 2.5-point favorites in a game the Fighting Irish won 23-13.
