A porter allegedly raped a woman in an empty coach of a long-distance train at the Bandra Terminus in Mumbai, police said. The incident took place late Saturday night when the woman and her son arrived at the station.
The "middle-aged" woman entered a train on the other side of the platform, which had no passengers at the time. The porter present on the second train allegedly committed the crime and fled the scene. The woman reported the incident to the Bandra GRP station.
The police reviewed surveillance footage to identify and arrest the accused porter. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the assault. The porter has been charged with rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
