The Colorado quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, who is expected to be a top overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, has decided not to throw at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine. According to the NFL Network, Sanders will only interview with teams in Indianapolis, as reported by Ian Rapoport on Sunday.

Despite skipping the combine throwing session, Sanders is not ruling out showcasing his skills before the April draft. He is planning to work out and throw at Colorado’s pro day, although the date for the event has not been finalized yet.

During the pro day at the Boulder campus, Sanders will have the opportunity to throw to former Colorado teammates, giving scouts and team officials a chance to evaluate his abilities.

Several other top quarterback prospects, such as Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, have also chosen to skip the combine throwing drills in favor of focusing on their college pro days. This strategy has proven successful for some, with Williams going first overall in the previous draft.

Sanders has an impressive college career, playing at Jackson State before transferring to Colorado. In his senior season, he threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Despite finishing eighth in Heisman Trophy voting, Sanders is considered a top prospect alongside his teammate Travis Hunter.

Cam Ward, another standout quarterback prospect from Miami, is also in the running for the top overall pick in the upcoming draft, which is set to begin on April 24.
