Two persons were killed and several others were trapped under a bus and sustained grievous injuries after the ill-fated OSRTC vehicle overturned on Sunday afternoon near Gahama Sevashram at Pabitranagar locality under Samal police limits in Angul district. A rescue operation was underway.
Identities of the two deceased have not been ascertained yet a senior cop said. According to sources the bus was on its way from Pallahara to Talcher when it met with a road mishap leading to deaths and injuries.
Around 30 were rescued by a police team with the help of locals and were sent to a health facility in Talcher for treatment. As per sources some critically injured are likely to be shifted to Angul district headquarters hospital DHH for further treatment.
All seats of the bus were occupied and some more passengers were standing on the front side of it. More than 60 passengers were on board. The speeding vehicle turned turtle while it was negotiating a turning an eyewitness expressed.
On being informed Samal Police reached the accident site and launched a probe.
