Ally Sentnor and Lynn Biyendolo Shine in Victory
ST. LOUIS — Ally Sentnor and Lynn Biyendolo each scored two goals as the United States secured a 4-0 victory over a short-handed Jamaica in an exhibition match on Tuesday night. The match also marked the team's tribute to longtime defender Becky Sauerbrunn.
Sentnor found the back of the net in the 19th minute and added another goal shortly after. Biyendolo, a substitute, scored in the 60th minute and again in the 88th minute off a cross from Avery Patterson. The team's coach, Emma Hayes, praised both players for their performance.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce, the goalkeeper for the United States, maintained a clean sheet for the third consecutive game. Hayes expressed satisfaction with Tullis-Joyce's progress and her ability to connect with her teammates.
Jamaica, who has never defeated the U.S., fielded two sets of sisters in the match. The U.S. team's victory followed a 3-0 win against China in their previous exhibition.
Before the game, the United States honored retired defender Becky Sauerbrunn, a two-time Women’s World Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist. Sauerbrunn, who recently announced her pregnancy, also served as a commentator for the match.
The U.S. team's upcoming matches include a double-header against Ireland and a clash with Canada in July.
