In a tragic incident in Bengaluru, a 13-year-old boy named Dhruva took his own life by hanging himself at home in front of his younger sister. The incident occurred in the Byadarahalli police station limits on Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to the police, they suspect that Dhruva's extreme step was driven by his addiction to his mobile phone. The young boy, a resident of Ratnanagar near Gollarahatti, was found attempting to hang himself after removing his 'udadaara' while his parents were at work.
While Dhruva's mother arrived home and rushed him to the hospital upon discovering him, it was too late. Doctors declared him brought dead, leaving the family devastated. Preliminary investigations suggest that Dhruva's excessive mobile phone usage may have played a significant role in his decision to take his own life.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Just last month, a 14-year-old boy lost his life in a similar situation after his father resorted to violence over his mobile addiction. Another teenager in Hubballi city also succumbed to suicide after being told to avoid mobile phone usage by his parents.
The tragic deaths of these young individuals serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked mobile phone addiction among today's youth. It is imperative for parents and caregivers to monitor and regulate screen time to prevent such heart-wrenching incidents from occurring in the future.
