Jammu and Kashmir Government Implements Security Measures for Amarnath Yatra
Srinagar, June 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) - The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) announced on Wednesday that there will be no helicopter service for Yatris this year, following an order by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
SASB stated on its website that Yatris must now reach the holy cave shrine on foot or by using Ponies and palkis (palanquins) from both South Kashmir's Pahalgam and North Kashmir's Baltal route.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a security meeting on Tuesday to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, attended by top officials including Director Intelligence Bureau, J&K Chief Secretary, and DGP.
The J&K government has declared all Amarnath Yatra routes as ‘No Fly’ zones between July 1 and August 10 to ensure foolproof security, following strict security directives by the Lt Governor.
The order prohibits any aviation activity, including UAVs, Drones, Balloons, etc., along the Yatra routes during the specified period, except for medical evacuation, disaster management, and security surveillance.
Officials have assured that necessary security measures are in place for the smooth conduct of the Yatra, with L-G Manoj Sinha urging locals to cooperate and consider the Yatra as 'people’s Yatra'.
