Dubai, Jun 18 (AP) - A human rights group based in Washington has reported that Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 585 people in Iran, with 1,326 others wounded. The group, Human Rights Activists, identified 239 of the deceased as civilians and 126 as security personnel.

The organization is known for providing detailed casualty figures in conflict zones, including during the 2022 protests following the death of Mahsa Amini. They crosscheck local reports in Iran against a network of sources to verify the information.

Iran has not been transparent about the death toll during the conflict, with its last update on Monday indicating 224 people killed and 1,277 wounded. The country has a history of underreporting casualties.
