Andhra Pradesh Police detain Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy at Bengaluru airport

Amaravati, June 18 (SocialNews.XYZ) - Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) general secretary Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in connection with a multi-crore liquor scam.

Reddy was apprehended at the Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru by immigration officials on Tuesday night after a lookout notice was issued against him by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the scam. He was allegedly attempting to flee the country.

The immigration authorities alerted the Andhra Pradesh Police, leading to the arrest of Bhaskar Reddy and his associate Venkatesh Naidu in the early hours of Wednesday. Both individuals are being transported to Vijayawada for presentation before the ACB court.

The SIT had informed the court earlier that Bhaskar Reddy and five others are among the accused in the case. Reddy, a former MLA from Chandragiri, is listed as the 38th accused, with a total of 39 individuals arrested thus far.

Bhaskar Reddy denies any involvement in the alleged scam that transpired during the YSRCP government's tenure. He further accuses the SIT of mistreating a head constable, N. Madan Reddy, in an attempt to coerce a false confession regarding his role in the scandal.

Meanwhile, Bhaskar Reddy's son and YSRCP leader Chevireddy Mohith Reddy has criticized the TDP-led coalition government for allegedly conspiring to wrongly implicate his father in the purported liquor scam. Mohith Reddy claims that former gunmen of his father were subjected to physical abuse by SIT officials to extract fabricated statements.

Mohith Reddy highlights the severe treatment suffered by Madan Reddy, who is currently hospitalized and undergoing treatment. He questions the ethics of pressuring individuals to lie and condemns the SIT's actions, with Madan Reddy seeking protection from further harassment through a petition filed in the High Court.
