Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Optimistic About Export Growth
Stockholm, Jun 12 (PTI) - India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has projected that the country's goods and services exports in 2025-26 will exceed USD 900 billion, demonstrating resilience amidst global economic uncertainties.
Despite challenges posed by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Israel-Hamas war, and the Red Sea crisis, India's exports reached a record high of USD 825 billion in 2024-25, up from USD 778 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Addressing an Indian business delegation in Stockholm, Goyal expressed confidence, stating, "We have crossed USD 825 billion exports last year, we are surely to cross USD 900 billion this year in all this global turmoil."
The minister is currently in Sweden on an official visit to bolster trade ties and attract investments between the two nations, meeting with his Swedish counterpart and various companies.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has forecasted a robust growth in India's overall goods and services exports, expecting a 21% year-on-year increase to USD 1 trillion in the upcoming fiscal year 2025-26. PTI RR DR
