Political Affiliation of Board Member Raises Questions
John Boelter, a member of the Minnesota Business Development Board, was appointed in 2016 by then-Governor Mark Dayton, a Democrat. Recently, he was reappointed by Governor Tim Walz, also a Democrat. The board, comprised of 41 members appointed by the governor, aims to enhance business growth in the state.
A state report in 2016 categorized Mr. Boelter's political affiliation as "none or other," while a 2020 report indicated he has "no party preference." Interestingly, Minnesota voters do not disclose their political leanings upon registration.
