Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama presented a scarf to his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni as she celebrated her 48th birthday. Edi Rama went down on one knee to hand over the gift to Giorgia Meloni and sang “tanti auguri” (happy birthday) as the two leaders attended the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
The video of the moment was widely shared on social media. In the clip, Edi Rama can be heard explaining to the Italian PM that the lightweight scarf was the work of an Italian designer who had relocated to Albania.

Giorgia Meloni struck a deal with Edi Rama last year to divert some of the migrants Italy picks up at sea to detention centres in Albania although there are legal challenges to the scheme.
