An eight-year-old girl has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by two boys inside the washroom of her school in Mandya district. The incident, which occurred on January 31, came to light when the girl's mother approached the police on Sunday.
The class two student of a government school claimed that two boys, one her classmate and the other from a higher class, threatened her to remove clothes, beat her with a stick, and assaulted her private parts. The girl confided in her mother after the incident and a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Police are currently investigating the case, reviewing CCTV footage, and verifying facts. The medical examination did not show any injuries on the girl's private parts. Statements of the boys will be recorded to take further action.
BJP State President B Y Vijayendra condemned the incident, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He called for strict action against the perpetrators of such crimes.
