India commits to Quick Reaction Force company and Women-led Formed Police Unit
United Nations, May 15 (PTI) India, a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping missions, has pledged crucial support at a peacekeeping ministerial meeting. India's pledges include a Quick Reaction Force company, a women-led Formed Police Unit, and more, as announced by the UN Department of Peace Operations.
India's commitments involve a Quick Reaction Force company, armed police units, a women-led Formed Police Unit, counter-improvised explosive devices unit, K-9 unit, and SWAT police unit. The UN peacekeeping expressed gratitude towards India for its support.
The United Nations peacekeeping ministerial 2025 concluded in Berlin, Germany, with over 130 member states and international partners reaffirming their support for UN peacekeeping. A total of 74 member states made pledges to enhance peace operations amidst global challenges.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized the importance of equipping peacekeeping forces for current and future challenges. The meeting focused on innovative approaches, emerging technologies, and addressing threats like mis- and disinformation.
