PM Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred at the Maha Kumbh Mela ahead of Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya. The incident took place in Prayagraj, where several devotees lost their lives.
"The accident that happened in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured," PM Modi stated in a post on social media.
He also mentioned that the local administration is actively involved in assisting the victims in every possible way. "In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi ji and I am constantly in touch with the state government," he added.
The stampede took place during a holy ritual at the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest gatherings of people in the world. The event attracts millions of pilgrims who come to take a dip in the sacred river to cleanse their sins.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the stampede to prevent such incidents in the future. The safety and security of the devotees attending the religious gathering are of utmost importance.
