Military claims 40 civilians also died in "unprovoked and reprehensible attacks"
Islamabad: Pakistan announced on Tuesday that 11 military personnel were killed and 78 others injured during the recent military confrontation with India. The military also stated that 40 civilians lost their lives and 121 others were injured in what they called "unprovoked and reprehensible attacks" by India on the night of May 6-7.
India and Pakistan came to an agreement on Saturday to put an end to the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes. Pakistan's armed forces suffered casualties while defending the country, with 11 personnel killed and 78 wounded, according to the military.
The victims from the Pakistan Air Force were identified as Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, and Senior Technician Mubashir. Additionally, Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, and Sepoy Nisar were among the army personnel killed in the strikes.
The Pakistan Armed Forces responded with precision and retributive strikes through Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, under the banner of 'Marka-e-Haq', the statement mentioned. They also claimed that 40 civilians, including seven women and 15 children, were killed and 121 others injured in the attacks by India on the night of 6-7 May.
The military, along with the people of Pakistan, paid tribute to the deceased civilians and military personnel. They emphasized that any future attempts to challenge Pakistan's sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with a swift and decisive response.
