Trump Claims Foreign Film Incentives Pose National Security Threat
President Donald Trump is taking a stand against the film industry, announcing on Truth Social that he will impose a 100% tariff on all movies produced overseas.
The president alleges that other countries' incentives to attract American filmmakers pose a national security risk, leading to the devastation of Hollywood and other U.S. sectors.
Trump stated, "This is a concerted effort by other Nations and, therefore, a National Security threat." He has directed the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to initiate the process of implementing the tariff immediately.
