India's Stand Against Terrorism Reinforced at G7 Summit in Canada
Reaffirming India's stand against terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged leaders of the G7 to galvanise global action against terrorism, emphasizing the need for strict action against those who "promote and support" it. In his address at the G7 Outreach Session in Canada, the prime minister also highlighted the importance of addressing the concerns and priorities of the Global South.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated, "PM reiterated India's stand against terrorism & thanked the leaders for condemning the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack. He urged them to galvanize global action against terrorism & underlined the need to take strict action against those who promote & support terrorism."
India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Modi also emphasized the need for energy security for all through a sustainable and green pathway, showcasing India's global initiatives such as ISA, CDRI, and the Global Biofuels Alliance. He highlighted India's experience in democratising the use of technology and called for addressing global governance issues to promote innovation in the field.
During the G7 Summit, Modi engaged in productive exchanges with leaders on key global challenges and shared aspirations for a better planet. A picture posted on social media showed Modi with leaders of the seven-nation bloc and those invited to the summit, symbolizing unity for global progress.
At the summit, leaders backed Israel's right to defend itself and labelled Iran as the 'principal source' of regional instability and terror, demonstrating a collective commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting common values.
Modi's visit to Canada for the G7 Outreach Session marks his first visit to the country in a decade, where he aims to discuss important global issues and emphasize the priorities of the Global South in meetings with world leaders.
