Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the stampede-like situation in Mahakumbh and extended his condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the incident. He expressed his deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones and said he has discussed the matter with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“The accident that happened in Prayagraj Mahakumbh is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. The local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way. In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi ji and I am constantly in touch with the state government,” wrote Modi on X.
In the early morning of Mauni Amavasya (Wednesday), a stampede-like situation took place at Mahakumbh in which nearly 35 people were injured and few deaths were even reported by some media outlets. The police officials were deployed at the ghat to carry out rescue operations and the injured were taken to a hospital in Sector 2 and the akharas had postponed the ‘Amrit Snan’.
PM Modi Takes Stock Of Situation
In the wake of the stampede-like situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialled Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to inquire about the situation. Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him four times and took stock of the situation. The prime minister reviewed the developments that have so far taken place at the Maha Kumbh Mela and appealed for immediate support measures. Earlier on the morning of Mauni Amavasya, a massive crowd of devotees was seen gathered at the Sangam Ghat in the drone visuals. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to CM Yogi Adityanath after the stampede-like situation took place at Sangam. The home minister assured complete support to the chief minister from the central government.
