Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent environmental lawyer and anti-vaccine activist, has made headlines by dropping out of the presidential race to endorse President Trump. Kennedy, 71, comes from a family with a storied history in Democratic politics, being the nephew of President John F. Kennedy and the son of Robert F. Kennedy.
Despite initially choosing not to pursue a career in politics, Kennedy decided to launch his own presidential bid in 2023. He began by seeking the Democratic nomination before ultimately switching to run as an independent candidate. However, Kennedy surprised many by ending his campaign and throwing his support behind President Trump in August.
Prior to his foray into politics, Kennedy spent twenty years as the president of the Waterkeeper Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting waterways. He also founded Children's Health Defense, an organization known for challenging vaccine requirements and approvals. Kennedy served as chairman of Children's Health Defense starting in 2016.
Education-wise, Kennedy is an alumnus of Harvard University, where he attended for his undergraduate studies. He holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and a Master's Degree in Environmental Law from Pace University. Kennedy is married to actress Cheryl Hines and has been married twice before, with a total of six children.
