Roger Cook has revealed how he is keeping “bzzzy” over the Christmas and New Year break, collecting honey from his hobby hive. The Premier posted photos on social media in full beekeeper gear, filling half a dozen jars.

There are more than 3000 registered beekeepers in Western Australia, caring for an estimated 45,000 beehives. Mr Cook and wife Carly have previously posted photos of their hive on a family property in Balingup in the State’s south-west.

His break won’t last long in 2025, with campaigning set to pick up ahead of a State election on March 8. “My personal resolution is to carve out more time with my family, even as we enter the busy election period,” Mr Cook told The West Australian.

“Spending time with loved ones is a chance to reset and helps me focus on the things that matter. My priority in 2025 is to ensure our State goes from strength to strength. We know WA powers the nation so my focus will be to build on our economic success so all Western Australians can benefit. WA is the best place on Earth. Our future is shining bright and I’m so excited about what’s next for our State.”
