A security delegation from Singapore has arrived in Bhubaneswar to finalise arrangements ahead of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam's visit to Odisha on January 17 and 18. The delegation is working closely with the local Commissionerate Police to ensure comprehensive security measures for the high-profile event.
To assure an immaculate security shield during the visit, 40 platoons of police officers will be deployed. The President's itinerary includes visits to Bhubaneswar and the pilgrim town of Puri, both of which will be under heightened security.
The Commissionerate Police have enacted a comprehensive security scheme to address all vulnerabilities before the President's arrival. The city of Bhubaneswar will witness robust safeguarding measures, especially during the visit to significant sites in Puri.
In light of security concerns and to ensure smooth traffic flow, the Commissionerate Police has announced certain traffic restrictions on the specified days:
January 17 Friday
- 10:50 am - 11:40 am: Various Squares and Flyovers
- 2:40 pm - 3:20 pm: Various Flyovers and Squares
- 5:20 pm - 6:00 pm: Various Flyovers and Squares
- 7:15 pm - 7:35 pm: Various Squares
- 8:50 pm - 9:20 pm: Various Squares
January 18 Saturday
- 7:50 am - 8:15 am: Various Flyovers and Squares
- 12:00 pm - 1:05 pm: Various Flyovers and Squares
- 2:50 pm - 3:20 pm: Various Squares
- 3:50 pm - 4:20 pm: Various Squares
- 5:25 pm - 6:00 pm: Various Squares and Flyovers
These restrictions will not apply to emergency vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances. The public is urged to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the restricted hours. Cooperation from everyone is essential for smooth traffic movement and public safety.
